Monday Morning philosophy

After staying in for a complete day it is time to ready myself to venture out to the wonderful world of the workweek. With me being in the training class I was told to come in at 9:30, but it is hard for me to do. Should I ignore the request for us to stay away so they can get things done before the rush of 150 people? Or do I arrive at the normal 8:00 am and ask to help, Will anyone notice?

I finally braved it and joined the weekly scraplift at 2peas. The girlie I scraplifted has so much talent. It was fun, too. See below for the page I did.

Well I am going to get going, hope this finds you all happy and stuff.

Some more new pages!!!

Scrap it, if all else fails

My new motto, er well, more like the motto for today is if all else fails, SCRAP IT. I have been trying to use digi for the first time to create a banner. The decision to learn my PSP8 was a last resort after trying all sorts of online banner making tools, or so I thought. Up until 2:00 a.m. on a Saturday when the thought of just scrapping a banner would be the best way to go. A-it would prevent the headache B-give me a chance to get some sleep C-what else would a die hard paper srapper do, anyways? So, with all that said I proudly uploaded my new banner that displays a bunch of fun circles and scallops and stuff! Now, I can go on to the next step of making my blogger feel like home.

We sprung a leak. OK the house sprung a leak. I was on the phone when a new sound came from the basement that I did not recognize, but somehow did recognize the somewhat muffled scream-whine of my name. The voice had to be Kevins, and it was. When I made it down the stairs I saw a totally soaked version of the man I love with a pathetic look on his face. As he mumbled something about a turn off valve, I could see his reddish, cold flesh. Anyways, I had to keep a shopping engagment with Mom and my youngest son (20) to find him a loveseat for his new apartment and left Kevin to figure out how to remedy the water issue by himself. When the phone rang as we three were sitting outside under the canopy of Cheeseburger in Paradise dining on chicken, pinneapple, plantain, greens and onion six straws. It was one of those moments where if it was bad news that my stomach was not gonna be happy. But, he called with good news, after a trip to Lowes and a filing of the end of the pipe for the outdoor spicket he "capped" off the leak. No more boiling water for him to shave.

Todays agenda is to clean up the house a bit, and upload some of my newest layouts, along with doing my first challenge EVER at 2 peas. New Excitment and Adventure all in one day---now that is what I call FUN.

Foot loose and fancy free Friday

2 good things happened today, 1-I didn't fall asleep at work (been sick and it was hard) and 2-got out an hour early.

I so want to finish up the pages I have sitting ready for the finishing touches, but have no bling. Need to finish up some titles, and am out of ink. I have wheels but don't feel like driving. It feels like I am living the lyrics to an Alana Morris song. Last night I did some hand cutting that took over an hour to finish. The page isn't all that fantastic either.

This blog is so boring---after checking all the others out. Part of my problem is I need to learn how to add things to my blog!!! Maybe tonight I will sit down and work on it?!

Kevin went to get us some milkshakes, yum. We ate fajitas tonight and they were good. Doxie ate the extra steak strips. Poor dog, with me being down with the flu the last few days I haven't made any dog food for her. I refuse to give her canned dogfood with the recall scare. Working in the world of recalls, I know that it is a serious thing when they do a recall.

Hopefully I get the gumption up to get my hair cut this weekend. I know what I want which is quite amazing in itself, I usually let the hairdresser decide. Maybe that is why I am never satisfied.

Hope this finds you and yours all happy and stuff,

my newest layouts

and the new week is on the horizon

Sitting here ona Sunday night, with a belly full of Italian food, feeling good that the 5 week contest I was in is now finished and I can go back into creating layouts my way. I did however, complete 5 today. (see the slide show above for the my current layouts)

I am still at a satelite site for work and am enjoying the diversion from the everyday ordinary. Did get noticed for my card making and poster making on Friday. We shall see where that leads. I need new clothes and a new hair style. hehehehe Oh well, I will be digging thru my closet for something snazzy for tomorrow.

This weekend was fun. Met the family for the Saturday breakfast at a local resturant and then off to a park with the grandkiddos. Got some great shots of them playing. It was an amazing jungle gym, with several slides and climbing areas. Only thing wrong was the water fountains were not on.

Hope this finds you and yours all happy and stuff,
Linda

You have to buy a ticket before winning

That is a common saying (commerical even) around her for the lottery. I guess the same theory applies for a scrapbook page being published, eh? I wish I could figure out what holds me back from sending emails crazily with images attached to every call/contest? I need an agent or assistant. hahahaha
Last weekend was so trying on my emotions. Funerals have a way of doing that. But, as a favor to my sister I took pics during and made a simple (7 Gypsies new line is perfect) 8 chipboard paged album. I found some wonderful remembrance poems to dedicate love to her MIL.
Work---will be changing again, or at least I think. The training class is almost done and I think I may be going back to the regular schedule program...and we're back!
I am winding up with some great news!!!!
I AM GONNA BE A GRANDMA---2 more times this year!!!

all isn't what its cracked out to be

After Easter I went and bought my fav egg shaped candy, malted milk Robin eggs. Another addiction of mine. It is gross to think back at all that sugar I ingested. But, all is well now...there are none left.

Started a new adventure at work and I train and then they send me back to my regular job half day. I try not to be cynical but, they say they hand picked a few of us that show outstanding performance in one area or the other and we get to be top something or another later. The way they told us? Give us 20 minutes to meet them after giving us a quick briefing. Nothing said about wage increase, nothing in writing. I am so willing and ready to do more and yet...

contests and gifts and more ideas run through my head. Makes sleep delayed and I find myself looking for inspiration all over the place..so many things to scrap and my head is in a slump for creative thinking

Ok, I hopefully will try to post something later this week.

Monday excitement

This should be quite an interesting day. Kevin starts his new job. Work is bringing in over 100 employees for a big project in May. I should finish some of the 8 pages I am working on. Doxie will be home alone for the first time in a long time. And I am wearing new shoes!

I am still thrilled to be on the DT at Tally Scrapper and the things TopTally sent are wonderful. I GOT THE NEW PRIMAS. Ok, so I yelled on my own blog. But, the paper flowers and birds and hearts are just wonderful.

Well I am gonna finish up my morning and head out before the sun is completely up.

have fun!

the sound of silence

Hello anyone who reads this!

This morning I am up before the sun. My first thoughts of the day included the Ham for todays Easter Dinner and the clutter of things around here. Not to demote the religious importance of today, but in my mind this marks this Holiday as a cleansing of sorts. With Winter being behind us, the excuses of too cold being thrown out for any major changes in life styles and the unspeakable dream/hope that wonderful, miraclious things lie ahead.

The past plays a part in this whole anticpated future. What we learned before carries through and the love and dedication of family supports expectations. With that belief I have scrapbooked many pages of those before me. Heritage is what we call those pages, to me it allows those people to speak. Leaving a mark behind is a hard thing to do. Only the rich and famous find thier names being published for the masses to read.

I posted a slide with the newest Heritage pages I have finished. My mother in her younger years are my favorites, or maybe it is the ones of my father? They are important to me and I find myself taking special care in telling the story. My goal is to use the scans to make a hardbound book for each of the children. There are so many more to do!

May today be the first day of a remarkle future!

happy helping---the who,the what and the why of journaling

I saw the question on a message board and thought I would share my method to the madness of journaling.
I am a firm believer that each page begs for a story. Sometimes just a snazzy title will do for those cute pics of your kids, but for the pics taken of places, things and events, details are needed.
From way back in high school English class, I have followed some simple steps. I call this little trick the who, the what and the why of journaling. Readers want questions answered and if the writing delivers them, it does more than make the story interesting but emotionally satisfying. After you jot down the answers and make full sentences with them, arrange them in order.
Following are some questions to get you started. Soon you will be using your own questions, tell the story the way you want.
Who is this person to you?
Who is this person in life?
What is happening in the picture?
What main thing do you want people to know about the subject?
What is in the background?
Why did you take this picture?
Why are you scrapping this picture?
Try it ---you will like it!

3rd time is the charm?

Yup this is my 3rd post on this new blog. If everything works out with the charm part this blog entry will be the start of an every day thing for me.

I am in the middle of creating 8 pages. Got so many new papers and things in over the last couple of days. Tomorrow my goal is to meet with the family for breakfast get some groceries, adhesive and cardstock. Not necessarily in that order either. The good things in my life today are my healthy grandkiddos, scrapbooking friends, blooming daffodils, Kevin and my little dauchand. OH---have you seen the kewl bath mat from Avon? There are little places to add liquid soap and you press down to squeeze it out. Also, a pumise stone and the mat itself is a perfect for massaging your tootsies. Mine will be here soon!

When I started the idea of this blog the intent was to post sketches. Seems like a lot of others thought the same way, so you won't see that here. However, I have been making mini-articles regarding scrapping. You will notice they will have a title of happy helpings and all in pink font. Hope this helps you find them.

hope this finds you all happy and stuff,
-Linda

A month has passed...

It has been a month since my last post and some of the reasons are that I couldn't remember my sign in for the NEW blogger. It just proves that when you sleep on things it works out finally. hehehehehe

I am pleased to announce that I am an Aprils Design Team Member for Tally Scrapper!!! The newest and coolest place around. Some of my favorite things are the HOT product line...owner Top Tally has extreme taste and proves by the product in the store AND the tally point system. Come on over post a layout or two, say a few things and see what we think! Friendly group with pockets full of tallies.

Hopefully this month will be the end to bad habits. May marks the month I turn 46 and I want change, baby! Bad habits are gonna be addressed. So are many other things. I see a new trendy hair cut, new shoes, new diet, new exercise and other wonderful things.

With the dog food scare I am now Doxies primary cook. Ground chicken with rice and a touch of garlic served upon real plates. Next she will be sleeping in bed with us, oh wait, she DOES! That's ok, shes 10 and that means there have been alot of bathings she does not like.

Stay tuned for a new slide that will showcase my newest scrapwork. I expect 2 new packages this week yet and am ready to create.
